Impact of a proposed rehabilitation program to restore motor functions in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effect of a proposed therapeutic rehabilitation program on restoring motor functions among patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. The study adopted the experimental method using a one-group pre-test/post-test design and was applied to a purposive sample of 12 patients in Zawiya city. The study used the Visual Analogue Scale, goniometer, Manual Muscle Test, and a pain and motor function assessment questionnaire. The results showed statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-measurements in favor of the post-measurement in reducing pain, improving range of motion, increasing muscle strength, and enhancing motor function. The study concluded that the proposed rehabilitation program was effective in restoring motor functions of the shoulder joint among patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
