This paper aims to describe roles and relations between sea port and dry port (DP) within logistic chain using descriptive and panel research approaches. In so doing, the author reviews number of related academic literature that contain keywords related to DP, sea port and logistics chain without any time restrictions. The study summarizes that the term sea port is clear and well known, while DP is an emergence and modern concept. Moreover, although DP can facilitate cargo/freight flows between sea port and inland nodes, an implementation of DP concept in an existing transport system or network generates the problem of locating DP terminals, allocation of container flows and environmental issues as well. The study proves that the logistics chain required to be evolved with the global development and changes of maritime transport pattern in order to keep the competitive of port or terminals.
