The effect of Ticar therapy in accelerating the recovery of athletes and reducing the symptoms of grade 2 knee cartilage injury
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of TECAR therapy on accelerating recovery and reducing symptoms of second-degree meniscus injuries among athletes. The researcher employed an experimental design with a pre–post test for a single experimental group. The study sample consisted of (6) athletes aged between (22–25) years who were diagnosed with second-degree meniscus injuries.
A rehabilitation program using TECAR therapy was applied for a period of six (6) weeks, with three sessions per week. Each session lasted between 30 to 60 minutes. Pain levels were assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), range of motion was measured a goniometer, and thigh muscle circumference was also recorded.
The results revealed statistically significant differences in favor of the post-measurements across all variables (pain, range of motion—flexion and extension, and muscle circumference). There was a significant reduction in pain levels, improvement in range of motion, and an increase in thigh muscle circumference, with very large effect sizes observed.
The findings indicate that TECAR therapy is effective in accelerating functional recovery and improving the physical condition of athletes with meniscus injuries, supporting its integration into modern rehabilitation programs.
